Brown & Brown specializes in the area of health benefit analysis and design. We will work with our clients to modify plan design as necessary and to maximize various vendor relationships in order to get the best overall value for your benefit program. Analysis areas have included among others:

  • • Funding Review, such as fully-insured, shared savings and partially self-funded methods after a thorough review of client objectives including budget and risk tolerance.

  • • Comprehensive analysis of current benefit plan(s) to assess cost drivers such as high ER usage, unaligned service delivery, benefit administration, network management, stop-loss arrangements, utilization and lifestyle management programs, employee communication/awareness, incentives (if any) for plan or alternative program participation, etc.

  • • Exploring the concept of direct contracting with provider groups such as the primary care carve out model, smaller select network and transparent PBM’s (Rx network management) to maximize efficient health care dollar expenditures.

  • • Exploring development of a wellness or lifestyle management incentive whereby participation in screenings and other measureable metrics would result in a minor benefit enhancement.

  • • Focus design around incenting delivery of care at lower cost access points such as urgent care vs. emergency room, along with education regarding prevention, self-care and consulting nurse services.

  • • Exploring the possibility of an integrated disability management program, coordinating occupational and non-occupational claims.

  • • Exploring transparency tools for providing quality and cost measures.

  • • Drill down claims experience reporting and analysis to include overall data, claims by diagnosis, claims by point of service, claims by dollar amount, catastrophic claims etc.

  • • Exploring breakaway collective bargaining units or returns of same.

  • • Pay or play analysis and reports provided to employers with over 50 employees.
